Competition Results

We offer a range of gymnastics classes for children from the age of 15 months. Our programs encourage children to participate in a safe, structured and child friendly environment, and offers age and skill based progression from kinder gym through to competitive National Levels classes.

Holiday Activities

YMCA Caloundra conducts school Holiday programs that run in January, August and September holidays.

    Trevor Dowdell is the founder of the YMCA Caloundra Gymnastics program and has returned as our Club Program Manager. He coaches in our non-competitive classes (STEPs), is a coach in the Women’s Team classes and Head Coach for Men’s Gymnastics.

    Trevor has been involved with gymnastics for 51 years as a competitor, coach, judge, educator and administrator. He is a Life Member of Gymnastics Queensland and holds a current High Performance Women’s Artistic Gymnastics coaches accreditation and an Advanced Silver Men’s accreditation. He is a Doctor of Education and has other post graduate qualifications including in Occupational Health and Safety.

    As a coach and club program manager he has personally aided the development of eight highly successful competitive gymnastics clubs throughout Queensland. During this time Trevor has mentored many high-level coaches and coached over 140 men’s & women’s gymnasts from Level 7-10. This includes more than 100 State champions, 13 National Champions and 10 National representatives.

    As a sports manager he was instrumental in the set-up of the Queensland Gymnastics Regions, the state-wide coach education programs, the very successful state squad training and the development of Queensland’s first successful International Levels Training centre.

    Trevor is a current Board member for Gymnastics Queensland, and a member of the State Women’s Sports Management Commission. Trevor is particularly interested in passing on his knowledge and practice in gymnastics sports program development and coach education in the service of others.
