Journey to Flourishing Mental Health

Our Wellbeing Group Programs are designed to build and sustain developmental outcomes for young people in our community. All of our programs are evidence-based and adapted to meet the neural developmental needs of participating young people. YMCA Social Impact offers the following programs to support young people on their journey to flourishing mental health:

  • School-Based Mentoring
  • Community Connections
  • mYnd Pump
  • Art Therapy
  • Drum Beat
  • Resilient Girls/Boys

YMCA Social Impact is passionate about sharing these programs with the wider community. If you have any questions or are interested in bringing any of these programs to your school, please make contact with us at This email address is being protected from spambots. YMCA Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation and strive to ensure that our young people have a real opportunity to be the best that they can be. Without their support, many of services would not be able to exist. Help us make a positive difference by joining our Volunteering Program today.

School-based Mentoring

YMCA School-Based Mentoring aims to improve young people’s mental health. Informed by an evidence-based framework, the program matches young people with adult mentors who facilitate emotional, psychological and social development by building a positive and transformative relationship. Weekly sessions include one-to-one and group activities in school and community settings.

In 2019, School-Based Mentoring operated across all five YMCA Vocational School campuses though the program has supported many other schools in the past. While our primary focus is on the young people, the program also provides volunteer mentors with opportunities for professional and personal development.

“Mentoring is like a big family. We can open up and be vulnerable without fear of judgement. I have more courage and self-confidence and have learnt so much from the mentors like the importance of listening and being polite around others.”
- Tim, Young Person at Ipswich Campus
